At Cedar Lane, everything began at our kitchen table. When my toddler needed a little extra help learning colours, I started creating simple flash cards we could use together. We played, experimented, and soon expanded from colours into shapes — turning everyday moments into playful learning.

These cards were never meant to be about “quizzing.” Instead, we found ways to weave them into games and daily life:

• Going on colour hunts around the house or outside.

• Playing Memory, matching colours and shapes together.

• Rolling out playdough shapes to match the cards.

• Using them for quiet, screen-free play when we needed calm.

Over time, these cards became one of our favourite tools for connection, curiosity, and gentle learning. That’s why Cedar Lane was created — to share them with other families who want the same calm, low-stimulation approach.

Alongside our flash card packs, we also offer free resources — simple activities and printables designed to support parents, entertain toddlers, and spark learning without the overwhelm.
